|The bottleneck has finally broken. We are able to move forward!|
The first installment of equipment is in place. The interior leasehold improvements, enabling the positioning of the final equipment is complete. Consequently we have become a rather busy bunch; cleaning, painting and wiring machines, readying them for training. It has become very exciting!
We have hired our first two permanent employees. You will therefore see more regular updates as we progress and establish our services, products and programing. What a welcome surge of energy!
The development of this mill project has been enabled by the support of Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC), RAIN/SNAP and Northern Ontario Women (NOW), as well as the personal and financial support of many community members and local businesses. A heartfelt thanks. This is just the beginning.

Funding from NOHFC Announced

The investment will be used for Wave Fibre Mill to establish a full-scale fibre processing mill in Seguin. The mill will provide service for small fibre producing farms as well as using Ontario sourced raw materials to produce yarn, batts, roving, felt and fabric.
The NOHFC provides financial assistance to projects that stimulate recovery, growth, job creation and skills development.

Our very first flax harvest.
Now, before all of the handwork yet to come to turn this into ‘flaxen linen’, we can dream. It is so beautiful and a joy to harvest!

THE MILL IS HAPPENING!
Well, we know what happens to “the best laid plans of mice and men…..”, but, we now have the key! We are working with renovations, layout and installation! Everything is coming together after the inadvertent delays. We are now in a position to work in the building! Very exciting indeed, to walk through the chalk lines and figure out the most efficient layout for the equipment. This will be quite the piece of choreography, but we have the support and expertise of good people and crews working toward our successful installation.
The next couple of months will be extraordinary to say the least. Many of you have indicated that you are watching and waiting, we will keep you posted as we go. Our focus has now shifted from planning, wishing and thinking to hands on making it happen. What a dramatic shift!
