February 2026 Newsletter

It is hard to believe that we are sliding down the other side of winter!
-none too soon for those of us negotiating the snowy highways-

“Big, expansion, and pushing the limits” is the theme of this newsletter.

  1. Nicholas has produced our first Queen sized blanket on our 60 inch loom. Using a triple fold method, the finished piece is unfolded to three times the width of the warp! The wool is North Country Cheviot from Dunchurch – the colour of summer butter, it is sumptuous!
  2. We are fielding inquiries from other small business from Nova Scotia to the Yukon, and several places in between, exploring the possibilities of using our materials in their products. A few look very promising at this point. I am sure you will hear about it as collaborations and relationships are formed.
  3. The other big expansion – which many of you have been aware of – we are finalizing the acquisition of the neighbouring building.
Having the two buildings will alleviate some very cramped conditions, thereby increasing efficiency and allowing installation of a couple of machines which will broaden our capabilities. This allows us the possibility of entering into the aforementioned collaborations. As well, allowing for ground floor services and having the makers’ space available full time…

So – an exciting year ahead with so much on the cusp. As well as our regular duties and projects; renovations and installations will begin.
Anyone with spare shelving, tables, filing cabinets, laundry tubs, bunkbeds – even a kitchen sink – we would gratefully take them off your hands.
As soon as we are settled, we will be sending out an invitation to the opening of our expanded facility!
