February 2025 Newsletter

As I write this it is Valentine’s Day. (Happy Birthday Hopkins!!) The sun is shining – for a change – and we are all snacking on chocolate, candy and cookies. What more can one ask?

We have hired another young woman. She is a graduate of Ontario College of Art and Design University with weaving experience and she has already fit right in!

Several upcoming speaking engagements:

Next week, Thursday February 20 at noon, listen to the Spinning Yarn Speaker Series. Registration is through Eventberite. The link is below.

Thursday, March 13 at 7 p.m. I will again be presenting, on a panel, discussion The Future of Local Textiles at grays in Toronto. Here is a link to grays. https://graystoronto.com/

Friday March 14 at 10 a.m. the Landmade Show will be at the Image Centre, Toronto Metropolitan University. It will be a talk, display and sale of Ontario wool and wool products. Here is a link for more information: https://www.instagram.com/p/DFp79dzJrga/?img_index=1

Through March, watch the Globe and Mail for a fashion insert. It seems we may have product in it. I will let you know when it comes out.

There are some freshly knit alpaca blend toques in the store and Norma is knitting pure wool toques out of the brilliantly dyed yarn. The intent is to have pure wool “5 mile Orange” hats to wear on your walks during spring and fall hunting seasons.

Please note that we are closed this Monday, February 17th for Family Day, but will be back on Tuesday, February 18.
