June 2025 Newsletter

June!

It is hard to imagine that a month has passed!
Our big news is that we have a new website launched!!

The e-store will follow as we get each item catalogued and photographed.
Check it out and let us know what you think.
Are there any glitches, or difficulties in navigating it?
Or are there things you love!?
We’d love to hear your feedback either way.

The new designs to debut on RunwayTO are all but ready. I was in Toronto fitting models and will have one more fitting before the event.

This coming weekend is the World Sustainable Fashion Summit where I will be doing a presentation and fielding questions and a discussion. Below are links to the events. If you get to either – do not hesitate to introduce yourself!

I have lots of fabric to cut and, when I get back from Toronto, I will dive into the linens for summer. So far – and this has not been our worst bug year – we’ve been selling many bug jackets!

The results are in from the WOW Challenge judges and are being compiled. Tickets for the awards GALA and Runway show can now be accessed through our new website here. Now that we can do it ourselves, we cancelled the Eventbrite!

Please take note: Although the Saturday festival is free with unlimited attendance, the GALA has a fixed number of tickets available.

I hope that you are enjoying this spring weather – now that it has truly warmed up! The peas and onions are up, tomato plants are waiting to be planted, and we are eating fresh asparagus daily!

I will resurface next month with news on the Toronto events.

Wave

On June 6th and 7th, 2025, the World Sustainable Fashion Summit in Toronto will bring together industry leaders, innovators, and changemakers to accelerate the transition to ethical and sustainable fashion practices, creating a more responsible and regenerative fashion industry.

Wave Weir, founder of Wave Fibre Mill, is thrilled to participate as a speaker, joining the summit’s mission to unite the global fashion community in a collective effort to transform the industry into a force for good. Wave will share her expertise and passion for sustainable fashion, advocating for practices that benefit people and the planet.

Maker’s Guild

Each month, members of the Makers Guild gather to share their passion for fibre arts and creating and continually expand their skills.

Last month we held a raffia workshop, and coming up this summer we will learn card weaving and sashiko stitching.

June has us gathering in anticipation of the Mill’s Third Anniversary Celebration on July 12th. The guild is already buzzing with ideas to showcase their work and honour the community that has flourished around the Mill over the past three years. Members will have live demonstrations for audience participation. It’s open to all and admission is free, so we hope to see you there!

Interested in joining the guild? New members are always welcome.

Check out https://wavefibremill.com/makers-guild/ to see what we’re all about! You can also message wfmguild@gmail.com to enquire.
